Susan Surber
Susan is a business executive, nonprofit leader, and passionate animal welfare advocate. She has spent her career leading strategy and organizational transformation, solving complex problems and building stronger futures for global organizations. But her most meaningful work has always involved animals.
A lifelong KC resident and animal lover, Susan has seen firsthand the challenges that pet owners face in accessing affordable spay and neuter services. She believes that preventing pet overpopulation is one of the most effective ways to reduce shelter overcrowding, decrease animal suffering, and help more families keep the pets they love.
Susan is passionate about creating practical, compassionate solutions that bring people together on behalf of animals. Through Fix'Em KC, she is committed to making veterinary care more accessible, supporting responsible pet ownership, and strengthening the bond between pets and the people who care for them.
When she's not working or volunteering, Susan enjoys spending time with her own family of adopted shelter pets and advocating for programs that make Kansas City a more pet-friendly community.
