Britton Hunter

Britton Hunter graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Journalism and worked in advertising before beginning her service in animal welfare. After she began volunteering at the KCMO Animal Shelter, she soon put all of her time and energy into improving the lives of the animals there. Britton became the President of that shelter's non-profit and when management changed, so too did the charity that was once tied to it. She renamed the group, Friends of KC Animals (FoKCA), and broadened its purpose to help animals throughout the entire Kansas City area. It became a charity that helped countless animals in need and thousands of struggling pet owners who couldn't afford veterinary care on their own. One of the most principal goals of FoKCA was to spay and neuter as many pets as possible to decrease pet homelessness. FoKCA served for over a decade before this final transition to Fix'em KC.

Britton continues to help animals in need and consistently strives to educate pet owners on ways to keep animals healthy. She works to curb pet homelessness through, as she says, "spaying and neutering anything that walks," knowing that fixing pets and increasing adoptions are the very best ways to help animals, shelters, and rescue groups. Her advocacy for ALL animals comes from an inherent compassion for every living thing, and a knowledge that each creature, big or small, deserves kindness, respect, and the chance to live each day to the fullest.
